Happy Hump Day you beautiful souls! I hope you all have been having a great week so far and that you’re ready to finish it out strong with today’s quote of the day! This week has started out a little rough for me. If you’ve watched any national news, you know that the U.S. experienced two horrifying mass shootings back to back over the weekend. I won’t get into politics, but I will say, this is a problem, and we can’t continue to ignore it. To add more sadness, one of my favorite writers and storytellers, Toni Morrison, who also won the Nobel Prize in Literature, passed away yesterday. So in terms of needing some PositiviTea, I need an extra large cup!
Has anyone every told you that you’re a lot to handle? What about, “You have so much energy!”? Or maybe they’ve laughed at you when you were really excited about one of your big ideas. How did that make you feel? Did it make you feel small? Did it make you not want to be as excited as before? Let me be the first to tell you to STOP feeling that way! Most of the time small minds just can’t comprehend big spirits. So stop blaming yourself. It has nothing to do with you, and all to do with them. You see when someone has a small mind, they can’t wrap their mind around how someone like you can fill the room with your personality. They can’t understand how you can impact someone’s mood just because your spirit tends to spread wherever you go. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “To be great is to be misunderstood.”
If you think about some of the greats like Oprah, Michael Jordan, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Michael Jackson, and Elon Musk, they all have one thing in common. They were all at one time or another in their career, mocked, hated, and misunderstood. They were told you can’t do that and it’s never been done like that before. They were told over and over again how they would fail. You know what? Maybe they did have some small failures. But in the end they landed on their feet, and the small minds that couldn’t comprehend their spirits were forced to watch their success from the sidelines.
So I challenge you to stay strong. Tune out the haters and naysayers that say you have too much imagination. You look back at them and say, “You say it’s too much, I say it’s not enough!” Have a great day and don’t forget to spread a little bit of PositiviTea!
